How to Optimize Amazon Product Listings
The internet market has seen drastic changes after the rollout of AI in 2024. Similarly, Amazon algorithms have implemented AI to compete in the AI race. You see AI suggestions and other things adopted by Amazon to feed product suggestions, etc, to customers.
With every passing year, the Amazon game is changing. Here in 2025, the game is not similar to what it was in 2022-2023. Increased PPC cost, China and US tariffs, etc, are disturbing the sellers.
So, it is much needed as a seller to optimize the listings like a pro and survive the Amazon market. Today, we will discuss the listing optimization techniques to be implemented to optimize the Amazon listings.
Before you list a product on Amazon, you should do these two checks.
1. Product quality
You may find product quality as an odd factor in this article. But it is a fact, you should prioritise product quality before launching your product. Otherwise, it will turn out to be a nightmare for you.
A poor quality product welcomes poor reviews and ratings that let the sellers take off the listing and liquidate the inventory. So, whenever you plan a listing on Amazon, make sure about the product quality.
2. Product demand
The second thing you should seek is product demand. A product that has less demand on Amazon will not help you sell. So, before making a decision, look for the product demand on Amazon.
If it has a decent sales demand, then only invest in it. Else, hold.
Optimizing Amazon Product listings: Things to check
The important things you should keep in mind while optimizing Amazon listing are as follows-
Competition Audit
Type your product name on the Amazon search and hit Enter. Amazon will show the number of results for your search query.
Open a spreadsheet, and start making a list of relevant and exact match competitor listings. Add their product detail page URL, title, price, category, whether they have Amazon A+ content, etc, details.
This will help you get an idea of what they have featured on the listing and what is working for them to be on the number one search result page.
Check for their images pack, product description, and bullets that they have featured. This will help you make an optimized listing copy.
Search the product on Google
Similar to Amazon search, you need to search for your product name (e.g., steel bottle) on Google. The search engine will feed you top results for the searched query. Look at the bottom and prepare the list of keywords Google suggests.
Also, check the top results appearing on the first page. Prepare a list of those in the spreadsheets.
Use tools like Ahrefs and Semrush to analyse those URLs. These tools will give a list of keywords where these top 10 search results appear on Google, along with keyword volume, attributes (color, size, material, etc), and difficulty score. Do add those to a spreadsheet.
This will help you prepare the best listing copy with all possible combinations of attributes and keywords for wider visibility.
Amazon keyword research
After the Google keyword research, we will go for Amazon keyword research. You can use tools like Jungle Scout and Helium 10 to make a list of keywords.
Also, these tools will help you get competition keywords. Put the ASIN of Amazon competitor listings appearing on the top Amazon page of Amazon in these tools. They will feed you keywords from where they generate traffic on Amazon.
Optimize product title
When optimizing titles on Amazon, you need to be creative and informative. Explore the list of keywords you generated through the above methods and make a listing copy.
Do include one word, single time, don’t repeat. This will give you additional space to add another word. The title should be neat and clean, and should give all the details about your product.
Suppose you are selling a steel bottle, you should cover all its attributes and aspects like color, capacity, material, shape, etc.
Use the image set effectively
Amazon allows up to 9 images to be listed with a single listing. Users love visual content more than text. So, it is a better idea to focus on making images that gather attention.
List out your product’s features, specifications, and attributes in a copy. Ask a graphic designer to create stunning infographics for your product. This way, you can explain the product better to your customers.
Fill in as many details while listing on Amazon
You will see dozens of input fields on Amazon while listing. Amazon has prepared different input fields based on different categories. It is vital to fill in all possible details, especially attributes and search terms, during listing. This way, you can optimize the listing better.
Bullet points and product description
Use bullet points and product descriptions like a pro. Instead of a marketing pitch, you should explain your product in an engaging way. Use bullet points to explain the product features, real-time problem solving, material, customers who can use it, etc.
In the product description area, cover any remaining details that you missed featuring in the bullet points. Also, you can use your audience type, like girl, boy, women, men, etc, secondary terms that users add with product keywords while searching on Amazon.
If your product can be used as a gift, then you can highlight occasions where they use it for things like Children’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc.
Amazon A+ and Brand story
Most of the sellers have enrolled in the brand registry on Amazon. You will see your competitors’ listings with Amazon A+ and Brand story added to them.
Using Amazon A+ designs, brands add additional information about the product. You can show how to use the product, how to install, or their real-time pics that leave no question among the audience. Having an A+ on the listing improves the conversion.
Things to do after listing launch
Run Amazon ads
Once you prepare the content and launch the listing, you should focus on running ads on Amazon. This will give visibility to your newly created listing.
Reach your audience through Amazon Sponsored Products ads.
# Why run ads on Amazon?
Running Amazon PPC ads will let you interact with customers to generate sales. Having a few initial sales will help you gain reviews and ratings from the customers.
# Monitor keyword indexing and rankings
Use Chrome extensions and tools like AMZDataStudio and Jungle Scout. This will help you check the index status of your listing and keywords on Amazon. Also, you can check your listings’ rankings on Amazon.
Based on these metrics, you can adjust and modify your listings from time to time for better results.
